Saturday night

water flows

cold and then hot

"you can take the small bowl"

She says,

and I just follow

now the yeast and the flour,

the dough will grow

and so do I

but how much?

I'm putting my hands

in this familiar mixture

I watch my Mother's fingers, smiling

so delicate and sweet

completely unaware

of how much I'll miss them.
